EC Finally Clears Kyagulanyi For Presidential Nomination

The Independent Electoral Commission of Uganda (EC) has cleared Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi AKA BobiWine,the National Unity Platform party (NUP) Flagabearer to be nominated for President on November 3rd.

EC released a list of names on Wednesday showing Bobi Wine was among the 10 Presidential aspirants whose signatures have been verified and cleared.

The already verified and cleared aspirants for nominations include President Yoweri Museveni (NRM), Mugisha Muntu (ANT), Patrick Amuriat Oboi (FDC), Joseph Kabuleta (Independent), Henry Tumukunde (Independent).

EC set November 2 and 3 as official dates for nomination of Presidential candidates at Kyambogo grounds.

The signatures that Bobiwine submitted for endorsement from supporters were first queried by Electoral Commission.

Bobi Wine submitted 33000 signatures to EC and the commission required only 9800 as mandated in the law.

EC spokesperson Paul Bukenya said that  Bobi Wine and other aspirants were cleared for nomination after submitting all the necessary requirements.
