Detained Kampala socialite Brian Kirumira alias Bryan White has paid the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairman for Eastern Uganda, Captain Mike Mukula $40,000 (about Shs148) as the two parties continue to negotiate how he will clear his debts.
Shortly after Kirumira’s arrest on allegations of obtaining goods by false pretence on Friday, his creditors including Captain Mukula stormed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters in Kampala with debt claims.

A police source said Saturday that Mr Kirumira who is currently detained at Special Investigations Division in Kireka paid the money to Capt Mukula and is likely to be released on police bond later in the evening as he continues to negotiate with other creditors including his land lord and one Yassah Matovu Seguya.
“Humility is a virtue!!!! I have resolved all outstanding issues with BRIAN WHITE-Kirumira as patriots and nationalists. Chapter CLOSED,” a beaming Mukula tweeted on Saturday alongside a photo of him posing and shaking hands with the socialite.

On Friday, the CID spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police Charles Twine, told this reporter that Mr Kirumira was detained for obtaining vehicles by false pretence.
“He says he got vehicles from one Yassah Matovu Seguya and made all payments and provided receipt of payment in the banks. But the receipts he provided are said to be those of earlier transactions, which brings in an element that before he got the cars he had premeditated mind with intent to defraud Seguya of his goods,” ASP Twine said on Friday.

The vehicles were tracked by Interpol but were not cleared by their country of destination as required by the new international standards. However, later it was found out that this was used as a decoy to impound the vehicles.
Police raided Kirumira’s home in Buziga in Makindye on Friday morning and impounded two vehicles. The third car was tracked and intercepted along Entebbe Road.
Each vehicle costs around Shs350m.by DM
