The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has disowned local musician Isaac Kitoogo aka Ambassador Wa Yesu who was nailed in the mouth.

Kitoogo, 37, a resident of Nambozo Cell, Nkoma Ward in Mbale Municipality, told police he was beaten and a 3-inch nail driven through his right cheek on Monday night.

Elgon region police spokesperson, Robert Tukei, told edge.ug that Kitoogo was ambushed by three men while on his way home at about 9 pm from Soweto in Nkoma Ward in Mbale Town.

The victim told police the attackers ordered him to stop praising President Museveni.

He was admitted to Mbale General Clinic and later discharged on Tuesday evening.

The district NRM party chairman, Mahamood Masaba, told press in Mbale town that the victim is not a supporter of the party.

“We have confirmed that he is not our supporter. We do not have any supporter or leader of NRM party, who was beaten,” Masaba is quoted as saying.

He said the victim is not a resident of Mbale District. According to police, Kitoogo hails from Kyaggwe in Lwengo district.

Mbale Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Sulaimani Barassa Ogajjo, told press that Kitoogo fabricated the incident in order to attract President Museveni’s attention.

“I believe it was a fake deal. He wanted to get money from government after claiming he was attacked,” Barassa noted.

He said the masquerader would be taken to Chief of Military Intelligence for further investigations.

Barasa said a police surgeon, Dr Rubanza examined the victims and found a minor scar on his cheek.Edgeug
