Just In: Former Cranes Captain Kirunda Dies At 70

Former Uganda Cranes legend and captain, Jimmy Kirunda had died at the age of 70.

According to FUFA, Kirunda collapsed and died in Bwaise near Hotel La Grande while walking to Wandegeya.

He played for Express FC, KCCA FC, SC Villa and Abu Dhabi Sports in the United Arab Emirates.

Mr.Kirunda led Uganda Cranes at AFCON tournaments, captaining them in three editions including the historical 78 edition in Ghana.

Former cranes skipper managed several club sides including SC Villa, Bell FC, KCCA FC, Buikwe Red Stars and Cooperative FC.

He was also once a coach of the Uganda Cranes between 1989 and 1996.

The Federation of Uganda football associations ‘FUFA’ posted on their twitter account eulogizing his great contribution towards development of Ugandan football.
