Mukono residents are demanding accountability from Hon. Nsibwa Fred Kagwa, the Member of Parliament for Nakifuma Constituency, over funds that were collected for the construction of a theatre at Nakifuma Health Centre III, which has never been built.
Kabugo Sulaiman, the L.C II Chairperson of Nakifuma and a staunch National Unity Platform (NUP) loyalist, accused Hon. Nsibwa of deceiving poor residents by collecting money under the guise of constructing a theatre at the health centre located in Kizungu Zone, Nakifuma Ward.
Jowelia Nsubuga, a salon owner operating from one of the local kiosks, revealed that during the fundraising drive, over 40 million Uganda shillings was raised for the project. However, the area still lacks a theatre at the healthcare facility.
Mukalazi Joseph, a resident of Kigogola Parish in Kasawo, together with Councillor Mpirito Yasir, are now questioning Nsibwa’s credibility and calling for explanations.
The fundraising event, which took place on July 27, 2024, was spearheaded by Hon. Nsibwa and attended by several high-profile figures, including Hon. Magogo Moses, FUFA President, and Ayebare Martin, CEO of the Football Nations Corporate League, among others.
Nsubuga stressed that leaders must be held accountable for their actions, urging Mukono District authorities to demand transparency. She also encouraged residents to seek answers from Hon. Nsibwa Fred Kagwa before he seeks re-election ahead of the 2026 general elections.
