Kyejonjo – As Uganda’s 2026 parliamentary nominations approach, political figures across the country are intensifying efforts to secure both electoral support and spiritual endorsement, with many turning to prominent religious leaders for guidance.
Among those seeking such backing is Kampala City Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyajura, who recently made a high-profile visit to Rugombe Intambiro in Kyejonjo District to attend a three-day spiritual gathering led by Owobusobozi Bisaka, the revered spiritual leader of the Faith of Unity.
Nyajura, a well-known opposition figure affiliated with the People’s Fort for Freedom (PFF), joined hundreds of followers and fellow politicians at the prayer event, where Owobusobozi delivered messages of healing, unity, and national discipline.
Despite her affiliation with an opposition party, Nyajura publicly expressed gratitude for Owobusobozi’s blessings and his message of harmony, further underlining the growing influence of the Faith of Unity in Uganda’s political arena.
The ceremony, which attracted over 200 new converts to the Faith, was marked by spiritual rituals, prayers for personal and national healing, and a renewed call for political leaders to prioritize unity and the welfare of citizens over partisan divides.
Owobusobozi emphasized the Faith’s values of self-reliance, distancing the movement from foreign religious influences, and urged strict adherence to its unique calendar, which designates the 2nd, 12th, and 22nd of every month as days of rest and healing.
Also in attendance were prominent lawmakers, including Mwenge North MP David Muhumuza and Kyaka North MP Paul Asaba Nsabimana, both of whom also sought blessings ahead of the upcoming elections. The MPs echoed Nyajura’s appreciation, lauding Owobusobozi for fostering moral integrity and spiritual discipline among Uganda’s leaders.
The Kyejonjo event comes amid a broader wave of political mobilization, with many contenders viewing spiritual endorsement as a critical component of campaign success.
Owobusobozi is expected to continue his outreach next month with a visit to Nsambya Intambiro in Kampala Bukwenda from November 14–16, where he will continue preaching unity and rallying support for national development under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
