A thanksgiving ceremony organized by the Indian Association Uganda brought together prominent business leaders, public officials, and community members to celebrate recent achievements by two notable figures in Uganda’s leadership landscape.

The event was held in honor of Sanjay Tanna following his appointment to Cabinet, and Shyam Tanna after his election to Parliament. The gathering attracted a wide range of guests from both the public and private sectors.

Among those in attendance was Sudhir Ruparelia, whose presence underscored the longstanding relationship between Uganda’s business community and national development initiatives.

As chairman of the Ruparelia Group, Sudhir has been involved in investments across multiple sectors that contribute significantly to the country’s economy.

Throughout the celebration, speakers highlighted the importance of leadership, public service, and collaboration in advancing Uganda’s development goals.

Several attendees praised the growing participation of the Indian-Ugandan community in both political and economic affairs, describing it as a positive reflection of Uganda’s inclusive national progress.

Community leaders also emphasized the role of private-sector investors in supporting economic transformation through job creation, infrastructure development, and entrepreneurship.

They noted that successful partnerships between government and business remain essential for attracting investment and fostering sustainable growth.

Addressing guests, Sanjay Tanna expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting trade, industrial development, and investment promotion. He emphasized the need to strengthen partnerships that can expand economic opportunities and enhance Uganda’s competitiveness in regional and international markets.

Meanwhile, Shyam Tanna thanked residents of Tororo Municipality for their support and pledged to focus on initiatives aimed at improving service delivery, empowering young people, and promoting local development.

The thanksgiving event also served as an opportunity for members of the Indian-Ugandan community to reflect on their contributions to Uganda’s social and economic advancement. Participants celebrated the achievements of individuals who have helped bridge the worlds of business, public service, and community development.
As the ceremony concluded, attendees expressed optimism about the future, citing the importance of strong leadership, active citizenship, and continued investment in Uganda’s development agenda.

For many present, the gathering represented more than a celebration of individual achievements. It highlighted the growing collaboration between political leaders, entrepreneurs, and community organizations working toward a shared vision of national progress and economic prosperity.
