The Kampala Metropolitan Police has apprehended another suspect in connection to the aggravated robbery incident involving Mr. Mugisha Tomson, aged 40, which was captured on CCTV.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police stated that the third suspect identified as Derrick also known as Musota, was arrested on May 24, 2024, around Nakivubo Channel in the city center.

“It is alleged that Mugisa is the individual who delivered the kick that incapacitated Mr. Tomson and continued to assault him until he was unconscious. Mugisa has confessed to both the act of kicking and the robbery,” Owoyesigyire stated.

He further revealed that Mugisa Derrick joins two other suspects already in custody: Senyonjo Peter, also known as Kakima, and Nuur Lweyama, also known as Mu TZ (Tanzania). The trio has admitted to acting under the command of another individual, for whom efforts are intensifying to bring to justice.

He emphasized that these suspects will be processed and presented in court as soon as investigations are complete.

This incident follows a disturbing incident captured on CCTV. The footage, which has been circulating on social media, shows a man identified as Mugisha Tomson, 40 years old and a resident of Kyebando, being assaulted by unidentified assailants and was robbed UGX 450,000. The attack occurred around Ben Kiwakuka Street at approximately 8 PM on May 22nd, 2024.
