Change Of Guard: Maj Gen Otto Hands Over Office To Maj Gen Olum As New Chairperson Of The Security Supervision Mechanism

The Chief of Joint Staff, Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba, presided over the handover and takeover ceremony of the Office of the Chairperson of the Security Supervision Mechanism in South Sudan at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) Headquarters in Mbuya.

During the ceremony, Maj Gen Richard Otto handed over the office to Maj Gen Dick Olum. Maj Gen Bakasumba reminded them that their appointments are not only privileges but also come with significant responsibilities.

The outgoing Chairperson, Maj Gen Otto, expressed his gratitude to President Yoweri Museveni and the UPDF leadership for the opportunity to serve.

The incoming Chairperson, Maj Gen Dick Olum, thanked the UPDF leadership for entrusting him with the role and appreciated his predecessor’s mentorship.

The ceremony was attended by: Brig Gen James Kinalwa Joint Staff – Human Resource Management, Brig Gen Godwin Karugaba Joint Staff – Logistics, Brig Gen Godard Busingye Joint Staff – Legal Services, Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security Brig Gen Abdul Rugumayo, and other senior officers.
