For many Ugandans, Kansai Plascon’s annual Paint & Win promotion is an opportunity to win exciting prizes while purchasing their favourite paint. But beyond the scratch cards, rewards and excitement, the campaign is also creating a different kind of impact: bringing colour, renewed hope and practical support to communities across the country.
Now in its 15th edition, Paint & Win is extending its reach beyond individual customers to institutions that serve thousands of people every day. Through paint donations to schools, churches and mosques, Kansai Plascon Uganda is using the popular promotion to support community spaces where people learn, worship, connect and build their futures.
The initiative reflects the company’s belief that business success should go hand in hand with giving back to the communities that support it. As the campaign continues to reward customers, its community outreach is ensuring that the benefits of Paint & Win are also felt by people who may never participate in the promotion themselves.
One of the beneficiaries is Uganda Martyrs Sooko Parish Church in Kisoro District, where a paint donation will support renovation works at a church serving more than 2,000 worshippers.
“For a congregation of this size, maintaining the church is a shared undertaking. The donated paint contributes to that effort, helping the parish improve the condition and appearance of its worship space. It also gives the construction committee practical support as it advances the renovation,” Nyasenga said.
The impact of the campaign is equally visible in Wakiso District, where Masjid Noor Wakiso is expanding to accommodate a growing congregation. The mosque currently serves approximately 2,800 worshippers daily and is working to increase its capacity to 4,200.
Kansai Plascon donated paint to support the expansion, helping with the finishing of a larger space that will accommodate more worshippers. For the mosque, the donation is a contribution towards creating a more accommodating environment for communal worship. For the wider community, it represents support for an institution responding to the needs of a growing congregation.
Explaining why community investment remains important to the company, Dr. Gumte said, “At Kansai Plascon, we believe that our responsibility goes beyond manufacturing and selling quality paint. The communities in which we operate are an important part of our journey, and we believe that when communities thrive, businesses and society thrive together”.
This philosophy extends to education, where the quality and condition of learning spaces can influence the everyday experiences of pupils and teachers.
Kisazi Primary School, in Luweero District, is among the beneficiaries of the campaign’s community initiatives. The school received paint to support improvements to its premises, helping it maintain the environment in which pupils learn and teachers carry out their work.
During the handover Plascon’s Head of Marketing – Daniel Kayongo noted school maintenance requires resources alongside the daily demands of teaching and learning. A donation of paint offers practical assistance to the school.
Other beneficiaries include Shruti Swaminarayan Gurukul School in Jinja and Nsengwe Community Church in Mubende District, extending the campaign’s reach to more communities.
For Kansai Plascon, the community initiatives accompanying Paint & Win demonstrate how consumer promotion can become a platform for a broader social contribution. While customers remain at the heart of the campaign, the company is also directing resources towards the community in which it operates.
