The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations, CDF General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has condemned the grievous act by Private Ameny Bonny, who shot dead three civilians and injured two others on Monday in Ngora East village, Ngora parish, Paimol sub-county, Agago district.

This was contained in his message that was delivered by the 5 Infantry Division Commander, Brigadier General Keith Katungi, during the burial of the three victims, namely Apio Sunday, 21, Akidi Santino, 47, and Ajalo Florence, 15.

Gen Kainerugaba extended Shillings 5 million to each of the families of the deceased and Shillings 3 million to those who sustained injuries. Brig Gen Katungi condoled with the affected families and assured them that Pte Ameny will be brought to face the law in a trial that will be conducted by the Court Martial in Paimol sub-county. The Minister of State for Economic Monitoring and Agago Woman Member of Parliament, Beatrice Akello, who was the chief mourner, urged parents to guide their daughters on how to handle domestic issues, regardless of their age or marital status.

The LC Chairman of Paimol sub-county, Mr Ngomkura Richard, expressed his gratitude to the UPDF for the support they have offered to the families during these trying moments. He called upon his community to emulate the UPDF in coming clean to condemn the incident as an individual act and show empathy and generosity to the people. He urged leaders to also learn to take responsibility and bear the burden just like UPDF.

The burial ceremony was attended by the Deputy Division Commander, Col David Opero, RDC Agago District, Mr Kidega James Nabison, Chairman LC5 Agago, cultural leaders, and community leaders, among others.
