Residents of Ganda in Nabweru Sub-County, Wakiso District, were left in shock on Tuesday, April 9, 2025, after the lifeless body of a well-known doctor, Safina Nabitaka, was discovered inside her clinic under mysterious circumstances.

The 40-year-old health practitioner, known for her dedication to serving the community, was found dead just hours after she was last seen cheerfully interacting with locals outside her clinic on the evening of April 8.

Concern grew among residents when the clinic, which typically opens by 8:00 a.m., remained shut well into the afternoon. According to Michael Sekidde, a neighbor, the delay was unusual. “She was very punctual. By midday, we became worried. When we went to check, we found the clinic door unlocked and walked in,” he said.

Inside, they were met with a grim sight Dr. Nabitaka lying motionless on the floor. Alarmed, the group quickly notified the area defense secretary, Christopher Muyimbwa, who confirmed the tragic discovery.

“There were no visible signs of physical harm or forced entry, and nothing appeared stolen or disturbed. It’s a complete mystery,” Muyimbwa said.

Police were promptly called to the scene and have since launched an investigation into the doctor’s sudden death. Preliminary observations have ruled out immediate signs of violence, though authorities have not yet determined the cause of death.

“We are waiting for the postmortem report to understand what might have happened,” one officer at the scene noted.

Meanwhile, community leaders have urged anyone with information about Nabitaka’s last movements to come forward to aid the investigation. Her untimely passing has left residents in grief, with many remembering her as a kind and dedicated health worker who served her neighborhood selflessly.

Police continue to piece together her final hours as her family and friends wait for answers.
