This Saturday, 24th May 2025, the hills of Ntungamo in Western Uganda will come alive with the sound of running feet and live music, as Rwashamaire town hosts the inaugural Coffee Marathon and Concert at the Africa Coffee Park.

Blending athletic competition with live entertainment and social advocacy, the event is a dynamic tribute to the rural women who are vital to Uganda’s coffee industry. From casual joggers to seasoned athletes, participants will compete for a share of the Shs116 million prize pool across distances of 5KM, 10KM, 21KM, and the full 42KM marathon.

Runners will pass through the lush landscapes of Uganda’s coffee belt, including scenic views of Lake Nyabihoko and vibrant farming communities offering a rare and intimate look at the countryside that sustains one of the nation’s top exports.

Held under the theme “Uplifting the Rural Woman,” the marathon aims to spotlight the contributions of women who cultivate and process Uganda’s coffee an often-overlooked group in the agricultural value chain. Organisers hope the event will serve as both recognition and a rallying call for greater investment in rural communities.

Registration costs Shs30,000 and includes a race kit as well as entry to the post-race Coffee Concert.

And the entertainment is set to be.
