Fallen Speaker Jacob Oulanyah’s Shs 2.5 billion burial budget has caused outrage amongst the public. However, many are specifically wondering why the Acholi MPs were allocated Shs 312.9 in the burial budget.

Speaking to journalists last evening, the leadership of the Acholi Parliamentary Group dismissed the published share, saying they requested only Shs 235 million.

According to the group chairperson, Anthony Akol, they requested the money from the National Organizing Committee for the burial.

Akol claimed that the budget would be used to finance several activities like road construction, traditional dancers, lighting, mobilization, and regional receptions, among others.

Meanwhile, Finance State Minister, Amos Lugoloobi, said the leaked burial budget is a draft. He said that the budget is set to be slashed.

The minister also refuted reports that the government is set to borrow to cater for the burial expenses.
