Busoga Kingdom has called upon the general public to disregard information circulating on social media that the Chiefs of Busoga Kingdom have replaced Kyabazinga Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope with Edward Muloki Columbus.

In a statement released on 14th January 2022 by Joseph Muvawala, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom, he emphasized that according to the constitution of the Kingdom, once elected, the King he rules until his death.

“The purported dismissal and, or election of a new Kyabazinga is false, illegal, misleading and intended to create confusion and disunity in the Kingdom which all peace loving Basoga and Ugandans should shun and condemn,” the statement reads in part.

He also noted that the current Kyabazinga has been performing well his duties; the Kingdom has in the past seven years, since his enthronement, registered tremendous success in areas of cultural promotion, unity, education, health, strategic partnerships among others.

“The Obwa Kyabazinga re-assures the general public that these temporary developments, just like several others before, shall be dealt with and managed and encourages everyone to remain calm and observe law and order,” the Prime Minister said.

Busoga Kingdom’s Letter trashing allegations

The purported letter which was trending on various social media platforms is dated 12th January 2022 with stamps of receipt from the office for the Speaker of Parliament and Deputy speaker.

It indicates that the hereditary chiefs passed a vote of no confidence in the current Kyabazinga Isebantu Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope and elected Edward Muloki Columbus as the new Kyabazinga.
