The Ruparelia Foundation, which was started up by city businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, over the weekend held a medical camp in Kamuli District, at the Shree Hind Bhavin Samal, during which medics attended to over 846 people.

During the medical camp, the Ruparelia Foundation is providing free eye checks, treatment, glasses and cataracts surgeries.

Statistics from the medical camp which started on Saturday August 20th and still running throughout Sunday 21st, 2022 indicate that several people in Kamuli district have benefitted from the medical camp.

The medical camp was also graced by former speaker of parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga

Some of the people who benefitted from the medical camp include 846 who were screened, 83 who underwent successful eye surgeries, whereas 69 underwent surgeries and 14 of these are still under process.

It should be noted that Cataracts remain the leading cause of blindness in low and middle income families, with the highest burden being recorded in Karamoja and Busoga regions, reason why the Ruparelia Foundation decided to focus on Kamuli district.

Established in 2012, the Ruparelia Foundation, which is managed by Rajiv Ruparelia as Managing Director, has always tried to attract and treat large numbers of Ugandans during their annual eye camps and the recent one has attracted thousands of people, who have benefitted from this corporate social responsibility.

During the eye camp, Ms. Joystna Ruparelia, who visited Kamuli Township Primary, on behalf of the Foundation, pledged to support the school by renovating some classroom blocks, providing scholastic materials, library books and some computer accessories.

“It warms my heart to give back to give back to the community where I grew,” Joystna Ruparelia said.

On her part, Sheena Ruparelia, the Director Ruparelia Group, noted that the Foundation is so proud to be in the hometown of their founder Joystna.

Meanwhile, the medical camp was also graced by the First Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Rebeca Kadaga, who ensured the success of the camp by contributing to its existence as a key player.

Following the successful medical exercise, the Ruparelia Foundation extends heartfelt appreciation to the numerous partners that offered their invaluable support to the eye camp.

The Foundation extend exceptional gratitude to the North Indian Cultural Association (NICA) which rendered tremendous support to the eye camp, by offering free eye care to the people of Kamuli.

Gratitude also goes too Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Uganda Blood Bank, Jinja Abacus Parental Drug Limited, SSDM Temple, Rwenzori Bottling Company Limited, SSDM Temple, Euroflex Ltd, Pearl Dairy Farms Ltd (Lato Milk), Harris International (Riham), Public Health Services, Atul and Rajni Unadk, the Rotary Club of Jinja and Rotary Club of Nsangi among others, for your generous contributions.
