Police in Soroti have impounded over 60 Motorcycles in a three day operation within the town and it’s outskirts.

According to ASP David Ongom the Regional Spokesperson East Kyoga, the operation was targeting motorcyclists who fail to follow the curfew guidelines of 1700hrs, carrying passengers, and riding Motorcycles in a dangerous mechanical conditions (DMCs).

“The screening exercise has started and the owners are supposed to produce log book and national Identity card that match with the log book. This is to ascertain ownership because motorcycle theft is rampant within Soroti and it’s neighbouring districts,” said ASP David Ongom.

Police further addes that after screening, suspects will be taken to court basing on the offence committed.

“We urge members of the public to adhere to the Presidential directives,” said ASP David Ongom, Regional Spokesperson East Kyoga.
