Covid-19 Stalls Construction Of Shs130 Bn Mbuya Military Hospital At 56%

The Minister of Defence & Veteran Affairs Hon Adolf Mwesige has led a team of senior leaders from the Ministry and UPDF to inspect the on going works at the UPDF National Referral Hospital at Mbuya Hill.The construction,which is now at 56% and expected to end in Jan 2021,started in February 2018.

According to the project management team ,there has been slight delays in the implementation because of adverse weather and challenges of COVID-19.The construction of the 327 bed hospital will go along way to save UPDF from expenses it incurs in private treatment centres at home and abroad.The hospital upon completion, will not only serve UPDF but also members of the public thus increasing the national health services capacity and also offer employment to qualifying Ugandans.

Accompanying the Minister on the tour were Hon Col (Rtd) Charles Engola the Minister of State for Defense(General Duties), UPDF Joint Chief of Staff Lt Gen Joseph Musanyufu ,Ms Edith Buturo who represented the Permanent Secretary,Maj Gen Dr Ambrose Musinguzi and other Senior Officers.
