Thousands of National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters especially the youths (Bazzukulu) are warming up to storm Kololo Airstrip on September 8th, 2023 to celebrate President Yoweri Kaguta’s 79th birthday.

The fete, which has been organised by a team of dedicated Bazzukulu, with an aim of thanking God for giving President Museveni a long and prosperous life from which millions of Ugandans have benefitted, will feature a number of activities.

The event is mainly aimed at celebrating President Museveni’s life, his achievements and self empowerment.

According to the organizers, these celebrations, which have been organised by Bazzukulu in conjunction with the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), will be held under the theme; “Developing the culture of entrepreneurship in youths, women and communities.”

Set to be graced by President Museveni as Chief Guest, the birthday bash, running on the slogan ‘Omalako Jajja #Tova Ku Main 2026′, will feature live performances by over 23 top Ugandan artists who have been lined up to entertain the gathering.

Besides the live performances however, we have established that Museveni’s birthday celebration will also include live comedy and dance shows, lots of free food and drinks, plus screening of some achievements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Museveni is estimated to have been born on 15 September 1944, to now deceased parents Mzee Amos Kaguta, a cattle keeper, and Esteri Kokundeka Nganzi.

Museveni is a Ugandan military officer, politician and revolutionary who has served as the ninth president of Uganda since 1986. After Museveni lost the election of 1980, he started the National Resistance Army (NRA) Ugandan Bush War which led to the removal of Milton Obote.

According to Julius Nyerere, Museveni’s father, Amos Kaguta, was a soldier in the King’s African Rifles during the Second World War. He was in the 7th battalion. So, when Yoweri was born, relatives used to say, “His father was a mu-seveni” (meaning “in the seventh”). That was how he obtained the name Museveni.

On 16 January 2021, Museveni was re-elected for a sixth term with 58.6% of the vote for another term that will come to an end in 2026, although many of the Bazukulu are calling upon him to contest for another term after that, hence the slogan ‘Omalako Jajja #Tova Ku Main 2026.’
