Wasswa Bbosa has been relieved of his duties as head coach of Uganda Premier League – UPL champions, Express FC, the club confirmed in a statement on Monday morning.

“Express FC would like to confirm that Wasswa Bbosa is leaving his role as head coach with immediate effect. The club would like to thank Wasswa Bbosa for his dedication and memories, most notable of those include winning the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (2020/2021) for the first time in 12 years and the CECAFA Kagame Cup, the first-ever in the club’s history,” the club statement reads.

The club further confirmed that Wasswa’s assistant James Odoch will take over the coaching role as Express Fc interim manager until the end of the season.

“The club also confirms that assistant coach James Odoch will take over in interim capacity until the end of the current season and will be assisted by goalkeeper coach Daniel Kiwanuka.”

When told the news of his sacking in a Monday meeting at the club’s head offices in Wankulukuku, Bbosa stormed out of the meeting saying “pay me my money” and the CEO Isaac Mwesigwa furiously responded that “come for it tomorrow.”

The shocking news of Bbosa’s sacking comes at the time when Express FC is 10 points behind UPL table leaders Vipers SC despite a 15-game unbeaten run.
