Senior Officers of the Security and Defence Studies Program (SDSP) from the Republic of South Africa visited Oliver Thambo Leadership School at Kaweweta to have hands of experience about the Liberation war that brought back peace and sanity in Uganda.

The Commandant of  Thambo Leadership Kaweeta school Col Chris Ogumelaki in his briefing applauded the Government of South Africa for selecting Uganda as a study destination which he said, strengthens the long term relationship between the two countries.
“The Uganda-South Africa relationship has existed for a long time and therefore should be sustained,” he said.

Oliver Thambo School of leadership was established as a reminder to all Pan Africanists not to forget the past heroes who fought the many liberation struggles in Africa.
Col Ogemelaki reiterated to the visitors that both Uganda and South Africa share a common history based on liberation of the African people.
The delegation paid respect to the fallen comrades who lost their lives during the struggles and later laid a wreath.
Earlier, the same SDSP delegation held a meeting with the Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters in Mbuya, where they discussed matters of bilateral interest.
