Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) coordinators in West Nile met to draw up a mobilization strategy for both local and national level candidates.

“We are encouraged by the enthusiasm with which our message is being received at the grassroots,” said party presidential flag bearer Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu.

It’s from there that change will come, he noted.

“We are building a cross generational coalition of leaders and supporters because we know that it is only through mobilising all sections of Uganda that real, long term change can be achieved.”

He said some have questioned their methods, demanding for crowds to prove might.

“Our belief is that the strength of a chain lies in the quality of each individual link.”

“Focusing on small, town hall style meetings has allowed us to engage in conversations with voters, not just a one-way rally.”

Muntu said they are taking time to listen to Ugandans and investing little resources in understanding what their challenges, fears and aspirations are.

When leaders speak, they should be able to demonstrate that they do so on behalf of those they seek to serve, he noted.

He said this starts with listening.

“In the end, you cannot give what you don’t have. When we say #PeopleFirstANewFuture, we intend to demonstrate in word and deed that we mean what we say and say what we mean.edge
