Uganda is mourning the death of veteran politician, freedom fighter, and senior government official General Moses Ali, who passed away on Saturday at 4:25 p.m. at Nakasero Hospital.

The announcement was made by Captain Mike Mukula, who described Gen. Moses Ali as a distinguished patriot whose lifetime of service significantly shaped Uganda’s political and security landscape.

According to Mukula, General Moses Ali dedicated his life to the service of Uganda, making immense contributions to the country’s struggle for peace, national unity, stability, and post-conflict reconstruction.
“He was a courageous soldier, an astute leader, and an elder statesman whose wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to Uganda inspired generations of leaders and citizens alike,” Mukula said.

In a condolence message, Mukula extended his sympathies to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Government and people of Uganda, the family of the late General Moses Ali, the people of Adjumani District, the West Nile Sub-region, and all Ugandans mourning what he described as an immense national loss.

He said the late General leaves behind a lasting legacy of patriotism, sacrifice, courage, and dedicated public service.
“His life reminds us that true greatness is measured not by the offices one occupies, but by the lives one touches and the nation one helps to build,” Mukula noted.

Mukula urged Ugandans to celebrate the late statesman’s life of honour, duty, and distinction, saying his example would continue to inspire future generations to serve the country with integrity, selflessness, and unwavering patriotism.

He concluded his tribute with an Islamic prayer, saying, “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.”

He prayed that Almighty Allah forgives the late General’s shortcomings, grants him mercy, admits him into Jannatul Firdaus, and gives strength and comfort to his family and all those grieving his passing.

General Moses Ali was one of Uganda’s longest-serving public servants, holding several senior positions in government over the decades. His death marks the end of an era for one of the country’s most prominent political and military figures.
