In a powerful demonstration of unity and generosity, renowned philanthropist and aspiring Member of Parliament for Buwekula South, Dedan Mubangizi, successfully led a fundraising drive to complete the construction of the only church-school in Kayebe, Mubende District.

Held on November 9, the event brought together Mubangizi’s close associates, government officials, and church leaders, resulting in a total of 120 million Ugandan shillings raised, with 90 million received as cash on hand.

The fundraiser, organized by the leadership of St. Mark Kayebe Secondary School in collaboration with the local church, sought Mubangizi’s leadership due to his longstanding dedication to the community.

Known for his philanthropic efforts, Mubangizi has impacted lives in Buwekula South through initiatives that address both immediate needs and long-term development.

Dedan received overwhelming support

His commitment to improving health services in the area is well recognized—he previously donated an ambulance and CT scan equipment to the local Health Center IV, and he recently organized a free medical camp that treated over 10,000 patients, many of whom had critical health needs.

The significance of the Kayebe church-school project, which serves as both a place of worship and education, resonated with donors who came from all walks of life to support Mubangizi’s cause.

Mubangizi emphasized the unique role the facility would play in the community, combining spiritual guidance with access to education for local youth.

During the event, he passionately appealed to attendees, underscoring the long-term benefits the church-school would provide for generations to come.

Beyond healthcare, Mubangizi has also been a champion for youth development and local sports. Earlier this year, he organized a football tournament that drew young talent from across Buwekula South.

He rewarded the winning clubs with livestock, a gesture aimed at encouraging both small-scale agriculture and sports. His multifaceted approach to community improvement has made him a popular figure in the constituency, admired not only for his initiatives but for his genuine connection with the people he serves.

Following the successful fundraiser, Mubangizi expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the community, saying, “The generosity we have witnessed today is a testament to the strength of our community spirit. Together, we are building a legacy that will serve both the spiritual and educational needs of future generations.”

With the funds raised, construction on the church-school is set to proceed, bringing the project closer to completion.

Mubangizi’s role in this campaign not only reinforces his reputation as a dedicated community leader but also reflects his commitment to fostering a future where education, faith, and opportunity thrive in Buwekula South.

As the community looks ahead, Mubangizi’s continued efforts are expected to drive further progress and inspire many to support the growth and development of their shared home.
