UPDF soldiers have killed Robert Muyaga, the Local Defence Unit operative who shot and killed two people in Masaka.

According to UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire, Muyaga tried to resist arrest and he was shot dead.

“We condemn the killing by a reservist today in Masaka of two civilians. The killer has been shot dead in a fire fight with a UPDF squad while resisting arrest,” Brig. Karemire said.

“We convey deepest condolences to bereaved families. Investigations into the incident have commenced.”

In an earlier statement, police said Muyaga killed Francis Musasizi after suspecting that he was having an affair with wife Jackline Nagasha.

Musasizi was the chairman of Rutovu B Cell in Kigenyi Parish, Mugango Sub-county in Lwengo district.

The shooting happened in front of Byansi Clinic on Elgin Street in Masaka Municipality.
