Authorities in Bweyogerere Wakiso district have launched a serious hunt for two suspects, Arafat Mpungu Kyaka and Bashir Kamoga who were caught red handed in the act by Mpungu’s uncle Juma Balunywa.

It has been  established that Bweyogerere becoming a hub for the unnatural activity and several people have become victims.

“I didn’t know that my son was involved in these activities, only learning when I found him half naked kissing each other with his friend Kamoga who stays in Kireka, the next village.” Balunywa stated.

He added that when they escaped, he forwarded the matter to the local council one chairperson.

When we contacted the Bweyogerere local council one office and they confirmed the matter.

However, they requested to speak on anonymity.

“Yes, it’s true we have that matter here, and we shall give a full report to the higher authorities after investigating it.”

President Museveni last year signed the 2023 Anti-Homosexuality Act into law as the homosexual activities were on rise among the youths in the Country.

However, the communities are vigilant as the act states and it is not a safe haven for the victims and the activists.

Recently, a prominent Ugandan LGBTQ+ activist Steven Kabuye was almost stabbed to death by unknown people on his way to work.

The law imposes capital punishment for some behaviour including having gay sex when HIV positive, and stipulates a 20-year sentence for “promoting” homosexuality.
