The Inspectorate of Government (IG) has arrested nine officials from Bugiri District Local Government (DLG) and one from Madi Okollo DLG for allegedly causing a financial loss of UGX 1.2 billion to Bugiri district.

This was confirmed by the IG on their X official page on Monday, March 11, 2024.

The IG identified the officials as Ezaruku Kazimiro, the CAO Madi Okollo DLG (former CAO Bugiri); Mustapher Nyende, CFO; Abdullah Waiswa, Senior Accountant; Minsa Atoire, Senior Accountant; Fred Bazibu, Assistant Accountant; and Henry Kabuki, DEO.

Others are Haruna Kamba, Deputy CAO; Paul Moses Isiko, District Production Officer; Fred Ikaaba, Engineer; and Muhammed Kyondha, Planner.

In November 2023, the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Beti Kamya Turwomwe, met with Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers, and Heads of Government Departments and Agencies and rallied them to not only support the Inspectorate of Government in the fight against corruption but also to remind them of their responsibility as accounting officers to close all possible gaps in their institutions where corruption occurs.
