Russian mercenaries, operating under the Wagner Group, are intensifying their pursuit of the infamous warlord Joseph Kony in the Central African Republic (CAR).

Kony, accused of abducting thousands of children to serve as soldiers and sex slaves, in his Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), has evaded capture for decades.

Recent reports suggest that the Wagner Group came close to apprehending Kony in CAR’s Haute-Kotto Prefecture where Kony was believed to have been, resulting in a deadly confrontation that left several casualties.

The Wagner Group’s pursuit of Kony has brought them within striking distance of the warlord, with sources indicating that they may be even closer than previous U.S. attempts.

Kony, a self-proclaimed Christian prophet faced charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court.
