Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu the National Unity Platform (NUP) chairman today swung his axe and knifed Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku from his position as Vice Chairperson of the electoral management committee.

Mukaaku’s sacking was confirmed by Bobi Wine during a press conference at the party offices in Kamwokya on Tuesday.

Mukaaku had just crossed from the Democratic Party to NUP together with 11 other DP defectors.

The former DP stalwart is accused by Bobi Wine of supporting a DP candidate in the recently concluded youth polls where a video of him being roughed up by People Power youth supporters spread on social media.

The angry youth also snatched a red beret off his head in Mutundwe, Kabawo zone because he did not support their People Power candidate Sharif Gitta.

Mukaku was accused of arriving at the polling station in People Power colors and rallying for a DP candidate where NUP/ People Power candidate was defeated.

He instead accused the youth claiming they subscribe to the National Resistance Movement but were only using NUP to win the election.

Kyagulanyi however maintained Mercy Walukamba a renowned NRM cadre who defected to People Power in October 2018 as the chairperson of the committee.

Also replaced in the reshuffle include; John Mary Ssebuufu and Jeremiah Keeya Mwanje who were replaced by Bobi Wine’s producer Tony Bikumbi alias Tony Houls and a one Rahma Juma.

While commissioning the party fundraising drive, Kyagulanyi said that a number of people are joining the party with intentions far from the struggle.

“We have noticed a number of people joining us with strange motives other than the struggle, I call upon all of you to be vigilant of such people,” he said.

Bobi said he is happy with the different members joining NUP and those who are expected to join them in the future.
