Just In: Former Ethics Min Fr Lokodo Passes On

Former Ethics minister Father Simon Lokodo has died in Geneva, Switzerland where he had gone for an official duty for Uganda human rights commission.

The news of his demise has been confirmed by director of information at National Resistance Movement Secretariat Emmanuel Dombo.

Later on, Uganda Human rights commission posted on their Twitter account announcing his death.

“It’s with great shock and pain that we‘ve learnt of the passing of our Honourable Member of the Commission, Fr. Simon Lokodo. He passed on this morning in Geneva Switzerland . The Commission will share details in due course. May the Almighty Rest His Soul in Eternal Peace”, statement said.

It is reported that Fr Lokodo could have succumbed to Covid-19.

Before he left for Geneva,former minister he had been going for a weekly dialysis for kidney failure at Mulago Hospital.

In August 2021,President Museveni  Fr. Simon Lokodo as a commissioner for the Uganda Human Rights Commission.

Lokodo was in June dropped as minister and the latest appointment is sigh of relief to him.

Also appointed as commissioners are former coordinator for Citizens’ Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU), Crispin Kaheru , former Kampala Woman MP and opposition politician, Shifra Lukwago and Jackie Atuheire.
