High court Judge Steven Mubiru has sentenced city business man Mathew Kanyamunyu to five years in prison for manslaughter.

This comes after the Director of  public prosecution (DPP )withdrew murder charges against Kanyamunyu and his girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari.

The charges of murder have been amended to manslaughter against Mathew Kanyamunyu after he entered a plea bargain agreement with the DPP admitting to the events of the fateful date when Kenneth Akena died as an accident and not intentional.

Successful plea bargain process led Kanyamunyu to get manslaughter charge a lighter sentence compared to murder case .

Kanyamunyu  pleaded guilty to the killing of social worker Kenneth Akena.

Recently, Kanyamunyu made a confession to the murder of Kenneth Akena Watmon, at a meeting presided over by Acholi Paramount Chief David Onen Acana II as a chief witness at the Ker Kwaro Acholi.

Kanyamunyu, with his lover, Cynthia Munwangari, murdered Kenneth Akena, a children rights activist on November 12, 2016, near Malik Car Bond on Lugogo bypass.
