M7 Blocks 28 NRM Rebel Mps From Attending NRM Delegates Conference

The 28 NRM MPs who voted against the bill to remove presidential age limits will not be allowed to attend incoming National Resistance Movement general meetings slated for 2nd and3rd of february.

The dissident MPs include James Acidiri (Maracha East), Monicah Amoding (Kumi District), Norah Bigirwa (Buliisa District Woman), Johnson Muyanja Senyonga (Mukono South), Everlyn Chemutai (Bukwo District Woman), Hellen Kahunde (Kiryandongo District WOman), Justine Khainza (Bududa District Woman), Gaffa Mbwatekamwa (Kasambya) and Henry Kibalya (Bugabula South).

While addressing the media, NRM Secretary General Kasule Lumumba revealed that  chairman of NRM Party Yoweri Kaguta Museveni instructed her not to invite the rebel NRM Legislators because they have not yet faced the NRM disciplinary committee.’’Mps who never supported the position of the party to amend the age limit will not be invited and allowed to enter Namboole. Security will be briefed and they will be chased away in case they intend to come’ ’Lumumba said.

S.G Lumumba later released the political Road Map of the National Resistance Movement; the Party will convene the 2nd Meeting of the 3rd National Conference on 25th January 2020 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The main purpose of this conference is to effect amendments to the NRM Constitution (Reprint 2015).

The National Conference will be preceded by the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and the National Executive Council (NEC) meetings that will be held on 23rd and 24th respectively.

Eligibility to attend the National Conference is as stipulated in the NRM Constitution Article 11(2).

These include the following; The National Chairperson, The 1st National Vice Chairperson, The 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female), The six Regional Vice Chairpersons, Members of the National Executive Council, Members of the NRM Municipal Executive Committees, Members of the NRM Municipal Councils and Promoters of the NRM Organisation.

Others are; Executive Committees of NRM branches in the Diaspora, NRM Members of Parliament/Parliamentary Flag Bearers, NRM Members EALA, Members of NRM Historical Leaders Forum, Members of the National Executive Committees of all special organs, NRM Chairpersons of Districts/Flag Bearers, Municipality Mayors, Members of NRM District Executive Committees, Members of the District Executive Committees of all special organs, NRM Members on District Councils, Chairpersons of Sub County Conferences, Twenty (20) Special Guests invited by the National Chairperson.

The lists of Delegates to attend the conference have been verified and approved by the District NRM Leadership.

These are going to be displayed at the NRM offices for any person to view and ensure that only those on the lists attend the Conference.

Accreditation for NEC will be on January 23rd while for the National Conference will be on January 24th both at Kololo Airstrip.

All Delegates are expected to transport themselves to Kampala.

This conference is being organised by the National Secretariat under the supervision of the oversight committee comprising some CEC members headed by the First National Vice Chairperson Rt. Hon. Al-Hajj Moses Kigongo.

Below the oversight committee is the Central Organizing Committee and sub committees headed by the Secretary General.

“The Public is hereby warned that no claims whatsoever will be entertained from any non-participants travelling to Kampala for the Conference,” said NRM Secretary General, Kasule Lumumba.
