Brig Gen William Bainomugisha, Commandant of the Military Police Brigade, has called on soldiers to uphold discipline and steer clear of criminal activities.

Addressing 53 inmates set for release at the Makindye Military Police Headquarters, Brig Gen Bainomugisha highlighted the significant cost of keeping detainees, which strains welfare resources and contributes to manpower shortages.

These inmates represent the second cohort to undergo rehabilitation, with the focus shifting from mere detention to providing skills and fostering a positive mindset, aimed at reducing reoffending and encouraging personal growth.

Col Okei Rukogota, representing the Joint Staff Political Commissariat, urged the detainees to respect their superiors at all levels, stressing that discipline and respect are vital for career advancement and personal success.

He encouraged the inmates to apply their newfound knowledge and reminded them that the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) sees them as potential heroes, investing in their futures for a brighter tomorrow.

The event was attended by Senior Officers of the Military Police Brigade.
