Parliament has called off today’s sitting and any other businesses at the house following multiple explosions in the city centre.

Security personnel have cordoned off at least two areas in the heart of Kampala where two explosions happened this morning.

One of them went off at Raja Chambers, along Parliament Avenue in Kampala, just a few meters from parliament’s main gate.

The building houses several offices of Members of Parliament and is located next to several government ministry offices.

According to the tweet on Parliament’s official Twitter page, today’s plenary sitting is off asking all MPs and staff who are not yet at the house to stay away due to the incidents.

Today’s plenary sitting is off and MPs and staff who are not yet here are advised to stay away due to the incidents which just happened on Parliament Avenue and other parts of Kampala,” read the tweet.
