National Unity Platform party has accused police of shooting it’s supporters in Nakifuma town, Mukono district.

“Just after our campaign meeting in Nakifuma earlier this morning, police has fired live bullets to our supporters leaving five of them dead,” NUP said in a statement on Monday.

“Many have succumbed to serious injuries when police trucks drove and knocked them down.”

We couldn’t independently verify the claims.

Bobi Wine, in a short message, thanked Nakifuma and neighbouring areas for the overwhelming love and support.

“We do not take this for granted! It is this kind of support that is giving the dictatorship sleepless nights.”

He added: “Ours is a mission to freedom.”

Police blocked Bobi Wine’s motorcade from proceeding to Buikwe district, sparking the confrontation.
