Uganda Police Force in Kagadi district are hunting for a catechist in connection to a murder of a butcher.  The suspect Ambrose Kyalikunda, is attached to Nyabwegyereka Catholic Church in Ruteete Sub County Kagadi district.

We’ve learnt that the suspect is wanted in connection to the murder on Monday of Julius Twesigomu, a butcher and resident of Nyabwegyereka village in Ruteete Sub County Kagadi district

According to Mr Kenneth Bakashaba, the Officer in charge of Kagadi central police station, preliminary investigations show that the catechist masterminded the brutal murder of the deceased.

Bakashaba added that on a fateful night, the suspect was drinking with the deceased in one of the bars in the village where they picked a quarrel. Bakashaba, however, says that the two didn’t fight in the bar.

He further revealed that residents were shocked to find the deceased’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood along the roadside on Tuesday morning with deep cuts on the face, head, back and stomach, which shows that he was hacked to death.

Police have since since launched a manhunt for the catechist who has fled the village. Bakashaba has warned bar owners to desist from operating, saying the government hasn’t lifted the suspension on their operations.

This is the second murder in Kagadi district within a space of three days. On Tuesday, police arrested Moses Sunday, the LC1 Chairperson of Kabayaga village in Mairirwe parish Bwikara sub-county over the brutal murder of 64-year-old, Gorret Nsungwa.

Sunday is accused together with others still at large of raiding Nsungwa’s home in the wee hours of Tuesday morning and hacking her to death on allegations of practising witchcraft. The deceased’s children found her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood on Tuesday morning.
