Police Speaks Out On Global Bus Masaka Road Accident

Three people were injured in a road accident on Friday morning when a driver of the Global bus failed to control it and rolled several times at Kayabwe along Masaka-Kampala highway.

The Mbarara-bound bus Reg. No. UAX 283A was enroute to Mbarara from Kampala.

The police’s traffic and road safety PRO ASP Faridah Nampiima said preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was caused by reckless driving.

“The traffic Police at Nabyewanga in Lweera has today morning at around 1040hrs registered a serious accident involving a global bus registration number UAX 283A and a Canter Diana registration number UBJ 648J. The Global bus was traveling from Kampala to Mbarara while the Canter was from an opposite direction heading to Kampala,” Nampiima said.

She added:” The global bus in the process of giving way to the canter which was overtaking reckless, went off road and over turned injuring three people”.

The injured people are admitted to nearby clinics for firstaid treatment while the Canter driver has been arrested and the vehicle impounded.
