Nile Breweries Limited (NBL), through its flagship brand Nile Special, in partnership with Africa One Tours and Travel Limited’s lifestyle and entertainment brand Safari Beats, today officially welcomed Jamaican dancehall superstar Spice to Uganda ahead of her highly anticipated performance set for May 9, 2026 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

The update was shared during a press conference held at the Nile Breweries Head Office in Luzira, with Spice in attendance following her arrival in the country earlier today. The engagement marks a key milestone in the lead-up to what is shaping up to be one of the most significant live music experiences on Uganda’s 2026 entertainment calendar.

Initially planned for December 2025, the concert has since been moved to May 2026, creating room for a more expansive experience that seamlessly integrates music, culture, and tourism. The show will be headlined by Spice, alongside some of Uganda’s leading female performers; Cindy Sanyu, Karole Kasita, and Winnie Nwagi, in a powerful celebration of the queens of the stage and their growing influence across the continent. The lineup will be further enriched by appearances from top Ugandan acts including Ziza Bafana, Mark D Urban, Navio, as well as celebrated DJs Slick Stuart and Naselow.

Beyond the concert, Spice’s visit will unfold as a curated cultural and tourism journey across Uganda. According to the official itinerary, her engagements will include visits to key heritage and cultural sites, media appearances, and a flagship tourism experience at Murchison Falls National Park, reinforcing Uganda’s positioning as a premier destination for global entertainment and exploration.

Speaking at the press conference, the Nile Special Brand Manager, Eric Malinga contextualized the partnership within a broader cultural narrative, “What we are building here goes far beyond a single night of entertainment. This is about aligning with a mindset, one of boldness, excellence, and authenticity. Spice represents that on a global scale, and our Ugandan artists embody it locally in a way that continues to shape the sound and identity of this market.”

“As Nile Special, we see this as an opportunity to celebrate that shared spirit while also elevating the experience for consumers. From today’s welcome to the final moment on stage at Lugogo, every touchpoint has been designed to reflect quality, pride, and a distinctly Ugandan sense of occasion. This is what it means to truly be ‘Made of Uganda.” Malinga added.

Spice shared her excitement about being in Uganda and what fans can expect in the days leading up to the concert, “I’m truly excited to be in Uganda. From the moment I arrived, the energy, the warmth of the people, and the richness of the culture have been incredible. This isn’t just about performing for me, it’s about connecting with the fans, experiencing the country, and celebrating the power of music to bring people together. I’ve heard so much about Uganda, and now getting to see it, from the city to the beautiful destinations we’ll be visiting this week, makes this experience even more special. Come May 9th, I’m ready to give Uganda a performance to remember.”

Paula Nahamya, CEO at Safari Beats reinforced the intentionality behind the week’s programming and the strategic pivot toward experiential storytelling; “Every element of Spice’s itinerary has been designed to connect her global influence with Uganda’s cultural depth and natural beauty. Whether it’s engaging with heritage at Buganda Kingdom sites, interacting with media to reach local audiences, or experiencing the raw spectacle of Murchison Falls, this is about creating moments that resonate beyond the stage. Safari Beats is building a platform where music becomes the entry point, but the destination, Uganda, becomes the lasting story.”

The concert on May 9 will be preceded by a morning soundcheck and followed by an official after-party in Kampala, closing out a week that has been as much about national storytelling as it is about performance.

The event will be powered by Wazo Dazo, Uganda’s leading real-time content creators, who will bring audiences instant highlights, live coverage, and same-day reels in their signature “Wazo Dazo Way.” Other key partners include the Uganda Tourism Board, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Uganda Airlines, Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board, Serena Hotel, Mestil Hotel, Flexi Pay, Quicket, M-ticket and ATS events who will be doing the production.
