City businessman Hamis Kiggundu aka Ham, who is the proprietor of Kiham Enterprises Limited, is working on modalities of reaching an amicable understanding with his neighbours (Buganda Kingdom) over the contested land in Kigo.

We have established that a series of meetings are underway between both sides, Ham and Buganda Kingdom in a bid to come up with a strategy to diffuse the purported tension that had mounted after he attempted to clear the access road to a chunk of land on which he intends to construct a modern sports complex called Ham Sports Club.

Contrary to the ongoing propaganda, the tycoon and kingdom officials are working on a mutual understanding process to do the following, in a bid to find an everlasting solution for the impasse;

Ham and his company Kiham Enterprises Limited, are ready to engage their neighbours (Buganda Kingdom) through meetings, in as far as support for the project, social license (blending Ham Sports Club with the already existing developments) and harmony is concerned.

The businessman has also made it clear that since Kiham Enterprises Limited is a company owned and run by loyal subjects of His Highness the Kabaka of Buganda, they as a business venture have no intentions of fighting the Kingdom whatsoever, but rather welcome and are open to reconciliation and mutual engagements at all times.

He also notes that the project aims at bringing a lot of social-economic transformation to many Ugandans at large, with Buganda inclusive.

“We are not going to fight Buganda Kingdom over Ham Sports Centre land in Kigo, we will negotiate until we reach an understanding,” Ham assured this website.

He also asserts that in light of the above, the project proposal was submitted to the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) for review and subsequently a NEMA approval certificate was obtained in December 2020 clearing the project to take off.

Ham contends that the misinformation currently surrounding the matter is Media Propaganda aimed at tarnishing his image and that of the company yet they are not fighting the Kabaka or Buganda Kingdom as portrayed, and that they are ready to continue engagements with the Kingdom in a bid to find an amicable solution.
