UG Votes: NRM Raises 5M Signatures To Support President M7’s Nomination

In conformity to the Presidential Elections Act 2005, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has this Friday submitted lists of signatures of registered voters to the Independent Electoral Commisdion supporting the nomination of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the Party Presidential Flag bearer 2020/2021.

The Secretary General Rt. Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba was represented at the function by her Deputy, Hon Richard Todwong and the Deputy National Treasurer Hon Jacquline Kyatuheire. Acting EC Secretary Mr. Leonard Mulekwa received the files on behalf of the Commission.

Hon Todwong said the Party had collected over five million signatures from registered voters across the 142 districts of Uganda. “We are submitting early enough to enable the Commission carry out the verification exercise on time”, Todwong added.

Speaking on behalf of the Electoral Commission, Mulekwa commended NRM for honouring the National Road map. “We opened up yesterday and NRM is the first to respond”, said the acting EC Secretary. He further added that a certificate would be issued on completion of the verification.exercise.

The Deputy Nationsl Treasurer Hon Jacquline Kyatuheire commended the Party members across the country for their overwhelming response towards this exercise. She was quick to apologise to the rest of the members that the Secretariat couldn’t reach out to all members who wanted to be part of the exercise.

H.E President Yoweri Museveni will be officially presented to EC for nomination by Rt. Hon. Secretary General on November 2 at 10am.
