Unfounded Allegations: Dr. Chris Mukiza Did Not Attempt to Shoot MP Moses Kamuntu

A recent online publication has circulated serious allegations claiming that Dr. Chris Mukiza, the Executive Director of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), attempted to shoot Rubanda West Member of Parliament Moses Kamuntu during an alleged confrontation at a hotel in Kololo.

These claims are false, unverified, and appear to be aimed at damaging Dr. Mukiza’s reputation and the credibility of UBOS.

The article, published on eagle.co.ug and widely shared on social media platforms including Facebook and Phoenix, has sparked public attention despite lacking credible evidence or official confirmation.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, has confirmed that no such incident has been reported to any police station, further casting doubt on the validity of the allegations.

It is also important to clarify that Dr. Mukiza does not drive himself when using government vehicles. He is always driven by an official driver, and his security is managed by a professional detail tasked with ensuring his safety.

The claims that Dr. Mukiza was driving under the influence and attempted to draw a firearm on MP Kamuntu are therefore considered baseless and damaging to his professional standing. Dr. Mukiza has built a long-standing reputation based on public service, leadership, and integrity.

Members of the public are urged to disregard unverified reports and to exercise caution when engaging with information shared on social media that has not been confirmed by official sources.
