The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Forces of Congo (FARDC) in a joint operation killed one Allied Democratic Forces terrorist in the areas of Maserekwede in Ituri Province.

The ongoing operation aims to completely flush out the terrorists who have split into groups of 5-7 from the four sectors of the joint operations.

The Mountain Division and overall Operation Shujaa Commander Major General Dick Olum is stationed in sector four at Luna, the tactical headquarters of the operation to coordinate the hunt for the remaining terrorists.

Relatedly, the joint UPDF/FARDC forces yesterday recovered more weapons from the Allied Democratic Forces terrorists. In a fight that occurred in areas of Kasongo in Ituri province, one PK machine gun, one Sub Machine Gun (SMG) and one hundred rounds of ammunition were recovered.

The continued loss of weapons and ammunition is a big blow to the Isis-affiliated group as they are in dire need of the same to prolong their survival.
