Members of Parliament representing the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) have donated theatre equipment to Bombo General Military Hospital to enhance healthcare services within the military community. The donation, part of a broader initiative to improve military infrastructure, was made possible through a collective fundraising effort that raised Uganda Shillings 500 million.

During the handover ceremony, Hon. Huda Abason Oleru, Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs (Veteran Affairs), commended the MPs for their commitment to supporting the welfare of soldiers and their families. She emphasized that such contributions benefit both military personnel and civilians who rely on the hospital for medical care.

Hon. Gen. Wilson Mbadi, the State Minister of Trade, highlighted that this initiative is part of a long-term strategy by the 10 UPDF MPs to address gaps in military healthcare and infrastructure. He reassured that efforts would continue to secure additional funding for military hospitals and related facilities.

Maj. Gen. Dr. Ambrose Musinguzi, Chief of Joint Staff Health Services, expressed gratitude to the MPs, noting that their contribution had enabled the hospital to acquire essential medical equipment, including two operation tables and anaesthetic machines.

The event was attended by senior military officials, including Maj. Gen. Henry Masiko, Chief Political Commissar; Col. Victoria Nekesa; Col. Dr. Ambrose Oiko; and Lt. Col. Jennifer Alanyo, among others.

This donation is part of the broader Tarehe Sita celebrations, which honor the UPDF’s legacy and commitment to national service. Other contributions ahead of the anniversary include donations of medical supplies and support for maternal health initiatives. The UPDF remains dedicated to improving the welfare of its personnel and communities across Uganda.
