UPDF Soldier, Policeman Arrested Over 20M Ransom

Police in Kalisizo have arrested three people who include security operatives for the kidnap of Tanzanian national based in Kyotera.

Greater Masaka Police spokesperson Paul Kangave identified the suspects; No. 42776 Edson Ntibankundiye attached to CPS-Kampala, L/CPL John Beyeza attached to 5th Battalion (Arua) and a one Victor Nkundamukama are accused of kidnapping Idd Sseruwo, 38, a resident of Nakalinzi village, Mutukula Sub-County in Kyotera district.

‘Our intelligence worked closely we the local people so that we could arrest these suspects who were eagerly waiting for the ransom of 20m ‘he said

He said the trio was arrested Thursday morning from a Guest House in Lyantonde town while coordinating with family of their victim.

No amount of money was recovered.

Asp Kangave said the suspects face charges of kidnap Contrary to Section 243 (1) (c) of the Penal Code Act.

The matter has been registered Vide CRB 341/19
