A 32-year-old Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier, Private Bonny Ameny, has been sentenced to death by the 5th Infantry Division Field Court Martial after being found guilty of multiple crimes in Agago District. The court, led by Colonel Peter Musherere, delivered the verdict after a two-day trial held in Ngora East Village, Paimol Sub-county.

Ameny faced seven charges, including three counts of murder, two of attempted murder, one of abduction, and one for deserting his post. The crimes occurred on October 20, 2024, after Ameny left his assigned post at Pakondong Detach. Armed and distraught, he went to Ngora East Village, seeking his wife, Ogom Betty, who he suspected of infidelity.

In a fit of rage, Ameny shot and killed
