In a bid to secure another term on the National Resistance Movement’s Central Executive Committee (CEC), Dr. Mike Mukula, the party’s Vice Chairman for Eastern Uganda, has embarked on a consultative tour of Soroti and Serere districts. Dr. Mukula met with NRM delegates in the districts, seeking their support for another term on the CEC.

During the consultative meetings held at Soroti Hotel and Akello Hotel, Dr. Mukula emphasized the importance of unity and internal democracy within the party. “Let’s unite as a party and build a strong foundation that will last for decades and decades,” he urged the delegates. The NRM delegates warmly welcomed Dr. Mukula, pledging to give him another term on the CEC.

BOB Owiny, the Soroti district LC5 NRM flag bearer, who served as the master of ceremonies, told the delegates to vote for Dr. Mukula for another term, citing his efforts in nurturing Anita Annette Among into the speakership and taking critical decisions at the CEC that ensured she became speaker. “His efforts are self-explanatory,” Owiny said.

Dr. Mukula’s message to the delegates was clear: unite and focus on building the party with better ideologies rather than promoting differences. He also urged voters to prioritize merit and experience when electing leaders, rather than being swayed by excitement or wealth.

The Soroti city RCC, John Mike Okurut, assured the delegates that Dr. Mukula is the best candidate to lead from the CEC. Dr. Mukula’s consultative meetings were marked by jubilations from the delegates, who expressed their support for his re-election bid.

In his address, Dr. Mukula also decried the commercialization of politics, where leaders are elected into power with the influence of their money, which he said leads to poor leadership. “They have commercialized elections, and I have written to the President about it,” he revealed.

As Dr. Mukula seeks another term on the CEC, his meetings with NRM delegates in Soroti and Serere districts have demonstrated strong support for his leadership.

The outcome of these consultative meetings will likely play a significant role in shaping the party’s future direction.
