Govt Will No longer Compensate Tortured Suspects From Errant Police Officers-IGP Ochola

The Inspector General of Police Martins Okoth Ochola has instructed all unit commanders of Uganda police force around the country to ensure that observation of human rights is adhered to in all areas of operations with out fail.

Ochola Warned all undisciplined police officers that they will always cough money from their own pockets in case courts of law rule that they tortured ,detained suspects beyond,denial of fair hearing i.e access to lawyers, corruption and delayed prosecution.

This stern warning comes after some police officers have been torturing suspects while hiding under the umbrella of government that in case police loses the case of torture and other forms of violation of human rights, the attorney general would compensate the victims.
