The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has condemned what it described as military aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran.

According to the statement, airstrikes targeted multiple locations, including defensive infrastructure and civilian sites in various cities across the country. The ministry said the attacks violated Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.

Tehran stated that the strikes occurred while Iran and the United States were engaged in a diplomatic process, arguing that it had pursued negotiations in good faith to prevent escalation and demonstrate its commitment to resolving disputes peacefully.

Iran described the attacks as a violation of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits the use of force against a state’s territorial integrity or political independence. It said responding to the attacks is its lawful right under Article 51 of the UN Charter, which recognizes the right of self-defense.

The ministry called on the United Nations and the Security Council to take immediate action, urging member states to condemn the strikes and address what it termed a threat to regional and international peace and security.

The statement concluded by affirming that Iran’s armed forces are prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and respond to the military action.
