Fire Destroys Important Exhibits,Guns At Mutungo Police Station

Police at Jinja Road are investigating a fire outbreak that occurred today at Mutungo Police station that left many police property including three guns .

The fire that happened Friday morning is believed to have originated in the OC’ office and subsequently spread to other parts of the building. It is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit.

Luke Oweyisigire the deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson noted that the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services from Butabika police promptly responded to the scene, successfully extinguishing the fire and no lives were lost nor injuries were reported.

However despite the valiant efforts of the response team that extinguished the fire, it resulted into the the loss of significant property that included three guns and bullets because it had spread to the armory.

The blaze also destroyed the Station Diary Books stored in the office of the Officer in Charge but there is an ongoing audit is being conducted to assess the total extent of property damage caused and the exact cause of the inferno.

The officers on duty managed to rescue the five detained suspects, and essential office property, such as radios and case files, was salvaged from the blaze.(capital fm)
