Gen Sabiiti Pledges More Support To Kiira Motors Corporation

Maj Gen Sabiiti Muzeyi,the General Manager Luwero Industries has hosted Kiira Motors Corporation Board of Directors at Luwero Industries Headquarters in Nakasongola.

Luwero Industries Ltd is a subsidiary of National Enterprise Corporation-a commercial/business arm of Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/UPDF.

Kiira Motors Corporation Board was led by its chairman Prof Tokidri.

Kiira Motors Corporation is mandated to build the Indigenous Motor Vehicle Industry by promoting value addition to Uganda’s minerals and other natural resources with a view of import substitution and export promotion of motor vehicles, vehicle parts, components and systems.

The visit came at a time when Kiira Motors Corporation utilizing Luwero Industries facilities and working with its technical personnel have managed to assemble some Electric Buses and a Diesel Bus and are currently assembling another batch of 02 Electrical and 01 Diesel Bus at Luwero Industries in Nakasongola.

Maj Gen Sabiiti Muzeyi took the visiting Kiira Board on a guided tour of areas of interest: Central Laboratory, Precision Workshop, R &D, Kiira Motors Assembling Workshop, Oxygen and Nitrogen plant, Veba and Waste Management Incinerator.

These areas of interest are very important in promoting value addition and supply chain localisation.

Gen Sabiiti pledged total support to Kiira Motors Corporation Board in providing infrastructure for the assembly of motor vehicles and continuous collaboration in certain aspects of the supply chain as they build capacity.

Management for the timely invitation and more importantly for allowing Kiira Motors to utilise its facilities to machine and fabricate the buses. She pledged to continue working with Luwero Industries in supply chain localisation and research and development.

Other members of the Board included: Dr. Charles Barugahare, Mr. Henry Arinaitwe, Ms Yudaya Babirye, Mr. Rwankangi Ronald, Ms Doris Akol, Ms Christine Sekyana and SR Akiror M. Grace.
